Papa Rich eats some big bugs in the jungle...

Suri, butterfly larvae... Not the hot dogs.
They grill them, "bien doraditos..."

Mmm... Doggies

Quique, mi amigo... with the suri chef.

One piece of wood
We think that, since they just paved all of this, the local workers got a batch of new chisels to try out...

hunkered down pooches

Pelting rain...

Unsure what the new street paint-job is all about... Hopscotch, does not seem likely.

We see random bones, not always in dog's mouths and some pretty unusual things in the street. Nothing like a sheep jawbone with most of its' meat removed.

Another busy week has flown by. We had a great zone conference Monday morning and enjoyed the first Worldwide Missionary Broadcast Wednesday afternoon.  We enjoyed lunch with the Poulsen’s after the broadcast, it was a wonderful day.

Rich had a presidency meeting Wednesday evening and Julie was busy with her English classes and Rich with his Quechua classes. With all the extra activities that were going on we still were able to take 8360 photos.

Rich flew to Puerto Maldonado Friday with President Reátegui and Brother Rubio to release three branch presidencies and call three new presidencies. Brother Rubio was helping with audits. While there Rich met with a lot of the missionaries and members. He loves this place! This trip the temperature was 111 degrees Fahrenheit and 56% humidity. In three days he took eight showers. Still, the feeling there is so delightful. He really has come to love the people in Puerto.

Everytime we leave there, he says, “Man, I forgot to try the suri!” So he did it this time. It is local fast food and a kind of fascinating delight. Not sure what it tastes like… at least how to describe it. The suri chef was pretty delighted with the old bald gringo trying the local fare.

Julie worked Friday and we both are preparing talks and training for our last round of district conferences. We are incredibly busy but loving the people and the wonderful opportunity we have to live and serve here in the Cusco mission.
